YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU!
Do you and your family love getting out and about, but wish there were more safe routes? Are you passionate about the community and want to make a difference? Eskbank and Newbattle Community Council would love to hear from you!
Over the past year we’ve been holding developers to account over their plans for housing and businesses, dealt with sewage spills and conservation issues, installed a community defibrillator at Eskbank Trading – and much more.
Community councils are Statutory Bodies run by elected volunteers and are one of the organisations developers and the local authority have to consult when making planning decisions about the community. We bring local people together to give the community a voice and help make things happen.
You might have a special interest, such as active travel, or just a willingness to spend a few hours a month making the community a better place to live. If you have an interest in or concerns about local issues, get involved! ENCC have a number of vacancies for community councillors. There is an opportunity to join us at our AGM, which is on 8th December at Edinburgh College, where new members can be elected. To apply you must be a resident of ENCC ward and you need to be nominated by two residents of ENCC ward.
Download the ENCC candidate nomination form in PDF or WORD versions (direct links) which are available on our website at www.eskbanknewbattlecc.org/about-encc (scroll down to the bottom of the page). These should be returned to the Midlothian Council Communities Liason Officer Mr Paul Johnson by post or email as indicated on the form, to arrive no later than Thursday 1st December. Versions completed digitally and sent as an email attachment are acceptable, in which case download the WORD version and fill it in.
