Nomination form for candidates for ENCC election

You can download the candidate nomination form for election to ENCC at the forthcoming AGM (Thursday December 8th 2022) from our website at https://www.eskbanknewbattlecc.org/about-encc/ (scroll down to the bottom of the page) or directly here as a PDF or Word document. These should be returned to Midlothian Council Community Liason Officer Paul Johnson by one week before the AGM (i.e. by Thursday December 1). These can be filled in digitally using Word, in which case download the Word version, and return that as an attachment to an email to Paul.Johnson@midlothian.gov.uk as detailed on the form, or print it out, fill it in and post it to the postal address on the form. Due to short notice and possible postal strikes email is preferred.

Note that to stand for election you must be on the electoral register as resident in the ENCC ward, and The Witness section and the 2 Nomination sections need to be completed.

If the number of candidates does not exceed the number of vacant places on ENCC, candidates will be elected without a vote taking place (this is likely).

We need to bring up the number of community councillors on ENCC closer to the allocated 15 places as we anticipate a busy year ahead with the need to formulate Place Plans, ongoing and planned consultations on a number of issues, continuous scrutiny of planning applications submitted, and a number of other issues and initiatives. If you would like to get involved in your local community please apply now, don’t hesitate – we need many voices representing the community and to to spread the load of responding to issues.

If you miss out on the election at the AGM but are still interested there is the capacity to co-opt members at any time – get in touch. There is also the opportunity to appoint non-voting Associate members to help with our work, especially if you have particular skills or interests – you don’t need to be a resident for Associate membership.
